Dear Ketan,
I am contacting you on behalf of the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Supporters Trust following the announcement on Friday that the Board of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC has accepted an offer from Seventy7 Ventures for a majority shareholding in the club.
The Supporters Trust is the recognised group representing fans of the club, with a significant membership which has grown substantially in the last year during a difficult period for the club, a period when fans have become increasingly concerned with the way the club has been run.
The Trust is also the custodian of 10% voting rights in the club, as well as being a shareholder in its own right.
The Trust Board of Directors is made up of fans of the club who wish to help the club succeed. Their backgrounds and skills are varied, including experienced business people and we have access to a broad range of skills and resource through our wider membership.
In recent months we have been calling for a change in the leadership of the club, due to the increasing dissatisfaction fans have felt with the decisions that the club has been taking. Despite developing a positive working relationship with club Director Scott Young since he became the Supporters Liaison Officer, we continue to be frustrated with how the Chief Executive has been running the club, including the lack of formal communication on important matters coupled with the complete lack of community engagement.
As you will see in our statement, we are pleased that potential new investment in the club has been found. However, the Trust Board, our members and the wider fan base are understandably apprehensive about what this means for our football club.
As the recognised group representing fans, we seek an early meeting with you and your associates, so we can understand how you will ensure the club will have a sustainable future, your vision, motives, and to seek clarity that fans and community engagement will be at the centre of your plans for the club.
And we are keen to understand your plans for ensuring the club rises back up through the leagues and returns to our rightful place as an established club in the Scottish Premiership.
The club has a fan base that, with the right level of engagement, is ready to throw its weight behind it. We have highlighted areas where improvements at the club can be made and where our members can assist the club reduce costs and generate additional income.
We will share this letter with our membership, and we look forward to your response. We are happy to meet on Teams or Zoom if it is not practical to have an immediate face-to-face meeting.
Yours sincerely
Jennifer Aitchison
